Skulptur Noel

Sculpture of my dog named Noel recreated in scrap metal and life-size ceramics. This work belongs to the Artificio Natural series, in which I use certain artificial materials to represent natural beings, with the intention of confronting the terms natural-artificial and reflecting on the relationship between humanity and nature.

This work is mostly made with scrap metal that I personally collect in my day to day, from workshops, factories, scrap yards...

These pieces of scrap metal not only have the function of composing Noel's volume, but also of providing their primitive forms and original character, I try not to deform or alter them, leaving their essence as intact as possible.

It features a mix of traditional techniques such as forging and molding on lead, and modern techniques such as manual plasma cutting and welding. With this diverse union of techniques, the aim is to unite past and present, highlighting the value of human work as opposed to the perfect and mechanized processes of industrial serial design.

That is why in the sculpture I leave all the marks of the creative process, without sanding welds, leaving the original rust and the marks of all the tools used, as traces that are witnesses of the lived process.
